Commercial Director | Hopster
Richard Young has his only consultancy company Masa Media, and of his key clients is Hopster where he is Commercial Director with responsibility for distribution and business development. Richard works with a number of clients in the Media and OTT sectors including Hopster, Premier Sports, Theseus, Eleven Sports and Sony Vue.
Prior to setting up his own consultancy he worked for Magine TV, a cloud based OTT channel service as SVP for Content and Business Development. He was also formerly Commercial Director at BT Consumer where he oversaw teams responsible for content licensing for BT TV, Sports rights acquisition for BT Sport, advertising partnerships, and business development including distribution of BT Sport. Richard joined BT prior to the launch of BT’s move into television and played key roles in the development of BT Vision, formation of Youview, launch of BT Sport and partnership deals such as Netflix.
Previous to his almost 9 years at BT, Richard spent a number of years at Channel 4 working in corporate development and strategy. He started his career as a strategy consultant at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting.
