Lydia Fairfax was recently appointed to lead the development of Discovery’s commercial partnerships in EMEA, including distribution for Discovery’s new global real-life entertainment streaming service discovery+. Internationally, EMEA is Discovery’s biggest region, consisting of 140 markets, a portfolio of 50 channel brands that reach over 318M viewers monthly, and a suite of direct-to-consumer products including discovery+.
Lydia has been with Discovery since 2012 in various senior legal and commercial roles. Most recently she was responsible for structuring agreements with Sky in the UK and European multi-territory partners including Vodafone and Samsung for the rollout of discovery+. Prior to that she spent 18 months heading up Discovery’s business in Turkey, where she oversaw the launch of Discovery’s second free-to-air channel in the market, DMAX.
She is a former lawyer with over 18 years’ experience in the media sector across sports and media broadcast. She spent the early part of her career working at media law firms Wiggin and Olswang (now CMS).
